HOULTON and NEW MILFORD, Conn. – Arden Vaughn Thompson, 70, died Nov. 10, 2003, at Danbury, Conn. He was born Jan. 30, 1933, in Houlton, the son of R. Hibbert and Dorothy (Varney) Thompson. He was sergeant first class in the United States Army. Upon discharge, he returned to Houlton and was active in the local flying community. He worked as flight instructor prior to becoming a commercial pilot for Pittston Brinks Co. in New York. After his retire-ment, he served on the board of directors for the Danbury Hospital Dialysis Unit. He was predeceased by his parents and granddaughter, Amanda. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of New Milford, Conn.; sister, Patsy, and brother, Donald, both of Houlton; children, Steve Thompson, Carla Doychak, Kim Doris, Mike Thomp-son, Sherry Austin, all of New Milford, Conn., Michael and Reba Thompson, Steve Thomp-son, Lori Goodman, Scott Thompson, Karen Dele, Wayne Thompson, all of Tri City, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Danbury Dialysis Fund, care of Dialysis Unit, 24 Hospital Ave., Dan-bury, Conn. 06810. Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, Conn. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Bible Baptist Church, New Milford, Conn. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
