ALEXANDER and PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Arlene Perkins Zeis, 87, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in Florida. Arlene was born April 5, 1920, in Alexander, to Ronald Perkins and Eva Cooper. She was a longtime resident of Sarasota, Fla., and recently enjoyed her days in Port Charlotte, Fla. Arlene was a proud hotel and business owner, a devoted ministers wife, a generous church volunteer, an animal lover, faithful Christian, fabulous painter and beloved mother and sister. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Probst; a brother, Donald Perkins; and a sister, Melva Hartel. Arlene will be greatly missed by her daughters, Reta O’Grady of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Virginia Doyle of Calais; her son, Robert McArthur of Alexander; her brothers, Fletcher Perkins of Crawford, Ivan Perkins of Casco and Sarasota, Fla., and Carl Perkins of Crawford. Arlene showed great pride in her 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
