VAN BUREN – Armand Castonguay, 77, died March 13, 2007, at a Cari-bou hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Drummond, New Brunswick, the son of Charles P. and Adeline (Rioux) Castonguay. He was raised in Van Buren and later moved to Bristol, Conn., where he lived and worked for more than 40 years. He was self-employed as a builder-contractor in the greater Bristol, Conn., area and retired from General Motors after 30 years. He had relocated to Van Buren in 1992. Armand was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in combat with the 31st Infantry Regiment. He was a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49, Van Buren. He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Roger (Claire) Madore and Mrs. Rita Cyr, both of Bristol, Conn.; Mrs. Everard (Florence) Daigle of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, Mrs. Herbert (Annette) Learnard and Martha Castonguay of Van Buren; one brother, Louis Castonguay and his wife, Georgette, of Farmington, Conn.; three sisters-in-law, Jackie, Kathleen and Sandra Castonguay; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Bernard Castonguay, son of his twin brother, Fernand. In addition to his parents and twin brother, Fernand, he was predeceased by two brothers, O’Neil and Roger Castonguay. Relatives and friends may call 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday, March 24, at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery later this spring.
