PRESQUE ISLE – Armand J. Duplessis, 82, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at a Bangor hos-pital. He was born June 2, 1923, in Mars Hill, the son of Joseph and Anna (Caron) Duplessis. Armand graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1941, where he won medals running track. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army where he fought in the Pacific Theater, and in 1982, retired from the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad after 36 years of service. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends. He got pleasure from socializing and reminiscing about old times. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Wallace) Duplessis after 55 years of marriage. Armand is survived by two sisters, Jeannette Lawler and her husband, Harold and Joanne Elliott and her husband, Don; four children, Anne Hemphill and her husband, Jeffrey, Richard Duplessis and his wife, Mary Ellen, both of Presque Isle, Michael Duplessis of Somerville, Mass. and Peter Duplessis and his wife, Laurie, of East Longmeadow, Mass.; 11 grandchildren, Craig Hemphill and his wife, Michele, Leanne Candura and her husband, Jeff and Ben, Ellen, Daniel, Sarah and Andrew Duplessis, Patrick, Matthew, Rachel and Kara Duplessis; four great-grandchildren, Shonda, Jordan, Clarissa and Megan; and a special friend, Beulah Marquis. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Pastor Carlos DaCruz officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeast Affiliate, 343 Gorham Rd., South Portland, ME 04106.
