HALLOWELL – Carl L. Treworgy, 86, of 6 Maple St., died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at the Hospice House in Concord, N.H. He was born in Hallowell, the son of Herbert R. and Nina (Lord) Treworgy. He was a 1938 graduate of Hallowell High School and a graduate of Gates Business College. He was a former 28 year resident of West Gardiner, and wintered in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Carl worked for 30 years for the State of Maine, holding several positions from accountant to budget examiner. He also worked part time as an accountant for the Hallowell Water District. He was a member and former trustee of the Old South Congregational Church in Hallowell, and a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Sanborn Lodge in Hallowell. He was an associate member of the First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and one of the original trustees of the Hallowell Community Band. Carl was a former member and past president of the West Gardiner Volunteer Fire Department. He loved big band era music and was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed watching major league baseball and the Army football team. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Vigus) Treworgy in 1982; and one brother, Scott L. Treworgy. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nona (Clark) Treworgy of Hallowell; one son, S. Scott Treworgy of Gardiner; one daughter, Mary Lee Tibbetts of Concord, N.H.; one stepson, Gregory Norton of Hallowell; two stepdaughters, Anita Bonnevie of Bethleham, N.H. and Laurie Whitney of Limerick; one brother, Robert L. Treworgy of Calais; one sister, Ruth A. Tuck of Penobscot; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Old South Congregational Church, 135 Second St., Hallowell, with the Rev. Susan Reisert and the Rev. Ernest Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at the Hallowell Cemetery after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mary V. Treworgy Scholarship Fund, care of Hall-Dale High School, 97 Maple St., Farmingdale, ME 04344 or to the Mary V. Treworgy Scholarship Fund, care of the Old South Congregational Church, 135 Second St., Hallowell, ME 04347. The Bennett Funeral Home, Concord, N.H. is in charge of arrangements.
