MADAWASKA – On Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, Armand P. Michaud went home to be with his wife, Rachel, and to be at peace and comfort with his Lord and Savior. He was born Jan. 15, 1922, in St. Agatha, the son of Patrick I. Michaud and Yvonne Lavigne Michaud. Armand’s work ethic was beyond compare. He worked industriously to provide for his wife and family. Being a jack-of-all trades, he was a perfectionist in all that he did. He proudly served our country in World War II, as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post No. 147 and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2638 serving as Faithful Navigator. He worked as a first class electrician at Fraser Paper in Madawaska for 42 years. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church serving on the parish council as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Altar Server. His four children, 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He would sacrifice anything within his means and often beyond to help out his children. His grandchildren will always remember Pepere’s well-known wink, rocking with him in his chair, as well as trips to the store for an extra special toy or treat. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Rachel (Martin) Michaud, in July of 2003; his father in 1960, and his mother in 1969; brothers, Fernand Michaud, in 1925, and Normand Michaud, in 1992; and a sister, Yvette Russell, in 1993. Armand is survived by son, James and his wife, Lorna Michaud of St. David, their daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Edward Marsh, and great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Alex of Hermon; son, Robert and his wife, Jeannette Michaud and grandsons, Jason, Andy, Paul and Peter, all of Madawaska; daughter, Julie and son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Clermont Morency and grandchildren, Jonathan and Michelle of St. Jerome, Quebec, Laura and her husband, Dwayne Hay and Matthew Morency of Winnipeg, Manitoba; son, Patrick and his wife, Jesse Michaud and grandchildren, Rachel, Renee and Jacob, all of Hampden. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Roland P. Michaud and his wife, Lorette, of Madawaska; his sister, Georgette and her husband, William Gill, of Nashua, N.H.; as well as his sister-in-law, Winette Michaud of Madawaska; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the Daigle Funeral. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery in the spring.
