BURLINGTON – Arnold H. Shorey, 93, husband of Janet (Wheeler) Shorey, passed away Oct. 4, 2007, at a Howland health care facility. He was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Burlington, the son of Harry and Flossie (Miles) Shorey. Arnold was a logging contractor for many years and had a large woods business. He loved the woods and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He had a great love for family and friends, was a very friendly person and loved to talk to people. In addition to his wife, Janet, he is survived by five children, Joan Nissan of San Bernardino, Calif., Sylvia Shorey of Holden, Deborah Porter of Patten, Bruce Bradeen of Stacyville and Arnold Shorey Jr. of Burlington; a sister, Laura Shorey of Burlington; eight grandchildren, five special great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Maynard and Eugene. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral ser-vices will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Shorey officiating. Interment will be at Mount Repose Cemetery.
