BREWER – Arnold J. McKenzie, 84, died Jan. 22, 2004, at a Brewer healthcare facility. He was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Bradley, the son of Joseph and Rose (Nadeau) McKenzie. Arnold enjoyed the opera, reading, his short-wave radio, Gunsmoke, and the New York Yankees. His friends and coworkers made it possible for him to attend a World Series game in Yankee Stadium in 1962. He retired from the Penobscot Shoe Co. in 1981. Arnold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn; daughter, Linda and husband, Jean Raymond, of Bangor; granddaughters, Diana M. McKenzie and her husband, Chris Evans, of Chelsea, Jane A. and her husband, J.R. Hopkins, of Milford, Laura J. and her husband, Rob Young, of Hudson; six great-grandchildren, Amelia, A.J., Sarah, Debbie, Jen and Zachary; sister-in-law, Murtle Baker of Old Town; brother-in-law, Frank Jennings of Bangor; friend, Bill Braisted of Brewer; and wonderful friends on Sixth Street, Patsy Bonneau, the Grindles, Anna Wareing; and his cat, Tigger. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth McKenzie in 1970. We will miss you daddy and grampie. Spring interment will be in the Lawnsdale Cemetery, Old Town.
