SHREWSBURY, Mass. – Arnold R. Carlson Jr., 74, of South Quinsigamond Avenue, Shrewsbury, Mass., died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, in UMASS Memorial Healthcare- University Campus in Worcester, Mass. after an illness. Mr. Carlson was born in Worcester, son of the Arnold R. Carlson Sr. and Wanda R. (Racienska) Carlson and has lived in Shrewsbury, Mass. for many years. Mr. Carlson graduated from Worcester Academy in Worcester. Mr. Carlson then continued his education by graduating from Clark University with a BA degree in accounting and received his MBA from Northeastern University. Mr. Carlson was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in Japan. Mr. Carlson was the former owner of Carling Turbine Blower Co. in Worcester for more than 40 years before he retired in 1994. Mr. Carlson loved to fly, he owned and operated his own plane out of the Worcester airport. He was also an avid golfer. He leaves his wife of 35 years, Ann C. (Woodcock) Carlson; two daughters and their husbands, Susan C. and Michael J. Prymowicz of Hampden, and Judith C. and John D. Arena of Shrewsbury, Mass; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy A. Carlson and Darlene A. Varney-Carlson of Worcester; also survived by seven grandchildren. Mr. Carlson’s funeral will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Calling hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, in the funeral home.
