WASHBURN and CARIBOU – Arthur Berry Jr., 77, died Nov. 6, 2003, at a Caribou hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Ashland, the son of Arthur and Verna (Bradstreet) Berry Sr. He was employed as a woodcutter for most of his working life. Arthur was an avid lover of nature who enjoyed hunting and fishing, being out in his garden, and working in the woods. He especially loved his family and had a fondness for all animals, especially his dog, Patches. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Opal (Lyons) Berry of Washburn; one daughter, Brenda Parker and her husband, Bruce, also of Washburn; five sisters, Phyllis Coffin and her husband, Wendell, of Connecticut, Grace Swett of Massachusetts, Minnie “Tottie” Croxford and her husband, Raymond, of Wiscasset Marilyn Weiss and her husband, Frank, of Pennsylvania, Connie Bolstridge and her husband, Guy, of Ashland; three brothers, Merle Berry of Colorado, Paul Berry Sr., and Jon Berry, both of Ashland; two grandchildren, Terri Almeida and her husband, Allen, of Rhode Island, Merle Buckingham and his wife, Deanna, of Presque Isle; four great grandchildren; a special cousin, Allen Berry of California; and by a special buddy, Eugene Allen of Washburn. He was predeceased by one son, Stephen Berry in 1950. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday at the Advent Christian Church, Exchange St., Ashland. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Alan Chamberlin, pastor, officiating.
