SKOWHEGAN – Daniel Edson Sawyer, 61, died unexpectedly Oct. 17, 2003, in Skowhegan. He was born in Pittsfield, Jan. 18, 1942, the son of Walter and Mona (Laselle) Sawyer. He began his auto body and painting career at Bean & Conquest in Bangor 30 years ago. As his career developed he assembled, built and painted street rods for his family and friends. He was famous for painting Freight Liner trucks they were recognized in Truckers Choice Magazine. He is survived by three sons, Daniel Sawyer Jr. of Dover-Foxcroft, Terry Sawyer of Augusta, and Mike Sawyer of Guilford; one daughter, Diana (Sawyer) and her husband, Kenneth Corson Sr. of Sebec Village, several grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2:30 Sunday at the Lake Road Cemetery, Monson, by Rev. Stevens.
