BUCKSPORT – Arthur Emery Winchester, 58, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, with his loving family by his side, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Castine, the son of Guy L. and Katherine M. (Woodman) Winchester. He was educated in Bucksport schools, graduating from Bucksport High School, Class of 1969. Arthur’s work career took him on many paths as a boat builder, longshoreman, construction worker and carpenter. He worked for Champion Paper Co., and Acadia National Park. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed spending time at his camp on Jacob Buck Mountain. Arthur was lovingly known as Papa by his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, James Winchester of Bucksport; his former wife, Faith Winchester of Orland; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Cody and Nathan; brothers, David Winchester and wife, Earlene, of Bucksport and Donald Winchester and wife, Elaine, of Stockton Springs; sisters, Janeen White and husband, Brian, of Bucksport, Muriel Grindle and husband, Francis, of Bucksport, Ruth Ginn and husband, Clinton, of Stockton Springs and Laurie Wilbur and husband, Dalton, of Frankfort; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by one sister, Katherine Ann. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Riverview Cemetery, River Road, Bucksport, officiated by the Rev. Linda Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
