JUPITER, Fla. – Arthur J. Evans Jr., 85, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Jupiter Medical Center. Born in Hartford, Conn., he had been a resident since 1961, coming from Hartford, Conn. Prior to retirement, he was an engineer with Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford, Conn., and Jupiter, Fla. Mr. Evans was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a former member of the Elks and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Evans was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Rita Cyr Evans of Jupiter, Fla.; two sons, Patrick Evans of Jupiter, Fla., and Dennis Evans of Hobe Sound, Fla.; two daughters, Gail Theriot of Murphy, N.C., and Rosemary Evans of Clenindine, W.Va.; one brother, Gilbert Evans of Keene, N.H.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 204 North U.S. Highway 1, Tequesta, Fla. Entombment will be after at Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta, Fla. Friends are invited to meet with the family 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center St., Jupiter, Fla., with a prayer service to be held 7 p.m.
