BANGOR – Arthur J. Sheridan Sr., 84, died peacefully April 13, 2005, at a local healthcare center. Arthur was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Melrose, Mass., to Emily E. (Sweeney) and Francis J. Sheridan. Arthur proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. On March 7, 1943, he married L. Irean (Jones) Sheridan, his wife of 62 years. Arthur later worked for the United States Fidelity and Guarantee Insurance Company until his retirement. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Bill, Peter and Paul Sheridan. He is survived by his wife, L. Irean Sheridan, of Bangor; son, A. James Sheridan Jr. and his wife, Victoria, of Castine; sister, Anne E. Sheridan and her friend, Dolores Crowley, of Dedham, Mass., and Port Charlotte, Fla.; brothers, Walter T. Sheridan and his wife, Connie, of Newburyport, Mass.; and Philip and his wife, Sandy, of Tampa, Fla. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, at St. Jude’s Chapel of St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Richard McLaughlin pastor, celebrant. A reception will follow for family and friends at the Park East Apartments, The Villas, 321 Stillwater Avenue, Bangor.
