BANGOR – Arthur Linwood Ramsdell Jr., 75, died Nov. 9, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born April 27, 1931, in Bangor, son of Arthur Linwood and Thelma Lillian (Durling) Ramsdell. Arthur was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1948, and served in the Naval Reserve during the Korean War. He was employed for many years in the shoe industry and in more recent years at Hannaford’s at the Bangor Mall. Arthur was a member of the First Congregational Church, Brewer. He was active in his community including a Little League coach and empire. He was recognized by the American Red Cross for many years of blood donations, delivered daily food donations to the Hammond Street Food Cupboard and the Salvation Army. Arthur enjoyed traveling and daily walks at the Bangor Mall. He was an avid sports fan with a special passion for Ted Williams, the Red Sox and the Patriots. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Janet M. (Rand) Ramsdell of Bangor; two children, Julie A. (Ramsdell) Projansky and her husband, David C., of Lewiston and Jeffrey A. Ramsdell of Bangor; three grandchildren, Alyssa R. Projansky, Christopher G. Ramsdell and Ryan L. Ramsdell; one sister, Deborah A. Mason and her husband, Sam, of Wickliffe, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Alisa J. Ramsdell. Arthur enjoyed noting more than spending time with his loving family. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett, interim pastor of the First Congregational Church, Brewer, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Monday.
