DEDHAM – Charles J. “Chip” Tinto Sr., 90, died Nov. 8, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Nov. 1, 1916, in New Rochelle, N.Y., the son of Charles and Aino (Lunki) Tinto. Chip was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. He was the proud recipient of the Family of the Year Award in 1986. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was passionate about golf. Chip was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellsworth and was active in St. Joseph Catholic Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Dedham Fire Department, Bald Mountain Snowmobile Riders and active in the Widows and Widowers of Bangor. He is survived by three sons, Charles Jr. and his wife, Dorothy, of Ellsworth, Michael of Dedham, Stephen and his fiance, Jeanne Savoy, of Carmel; one daughter, June Gallo of Danbury, Conn.; his very special friend, Evelyn England; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Natalie. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A memorial Mass will be held 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at St. Joseph Church, High Street, Ellsworth, with Fr. Scott Mower, celebrant.
