HUDSON, Fla., and OTIS – Arthur Lowell Reed passed away July 17, 2007, at Hospice Marliere Center, New Port Richey, Fla., after an extended period of declining health. He was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Bangor, to Arthur W. and L. Viola (Cappers) Reed. Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in both Brewer and Bangor for 38 years, retiring Dec. 31, 1977, as postmaster of the Brewer office. Arthur was a former member of Brewer Kiwanis and the Hampden Rifle Club. He was a member of St. Andrews Lodge of Bangor and the Anah Temple of Bangor. Arthur and his wife enjoyed many happy years at their camp on Beech Hill Pond fishing, hunting, swimming and enjoying nature with their children, grandchildren, friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Clara B. (Porter) Reed; three sons and their wives, Robert and A. Debbie of Gretna, La., A. Richard and Nancy of Brewer and Hudson, Fla., and Lewis and Loana of Bucksport; 11 grandchildren, Rick, Greg and Phil Reed, Laurie Gosselin, Lynn Augustine, Jeff, Mike, Chuck, Matt, Joey and Robin Reed; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
