UNITY-Edward S. Peterson went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, July 26, 2007, as he passed away peacefully with his family by his side at home. He was born July 8, 1942, in Brockton, Mass., the son of the late Edward S. and Evelyn (Jones) Peterson. After his schooling, Edward served with the U.S. Army from 1960 through 1963. On Sept. 6, 1997, he married the former Gloria Bell and together they shared many happy years. Gloria had been his partner, friend, nurse and loving wife. Edward was employed with MaineGeneral Medical Center, Seaton Campus, working as a substance abuse councilor. He was also employed with the correction facilities of both Kennebec and Somerset Counties. His passion was helping folks in any way possible. He especially enjoyed working with people who had been incarcerated due to their addictions. Edward also sponsored many Alcoholics Anonymous members in order to provide the support they needed. He would very often volunteer his services as well. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Shirley Whitaker; and his grandson, Tyler L. Marcia. Edward will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Gloria; his children, Michael Peterson and wife, Sheryl, of Connecticut, Ricky Peterson and wife, Michele, of Burnham, Linda Raven and husband, Kevin, of Clinton, Judith Marcia and companion, Kevin Mann, of Palmyra and Ronda Dreyer and husband, Allen, of Clark Summit, Pa.; stepchildren, Alan Kenney and wife, Lori, of Monmouth and Lance Kenney of Unity; a brother, Russell Peterson and wife, Janice, of Alfred; two sisters Linnea Walker and husband, Barry, of Detroit and Jacqueline Day and husband, Ralph, of St. Albans; grandchildren, Katrina and Lara Peterson, Corey, Cassandra, Macie and Shawntelle Peterson, Devin, Lyndsee, Derick and Kendra Raven, Jaimee and Ryan Marcia, Ashley, Jesse and Alivia Dreyer, Josh and Caitlyn Kenney and Thomas and Nicole Kenney; his beloved dog, Sammy; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank their church family and Health Reach Hospice for their support. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Clinton Baptist Church, Clinton. Burial will be at Pond Cemetery, Unity. Arrangements are entrusted to Lawry Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
