GUILFORD and AUBURN Arthur M. Ames, 93, died Aug. 27, 2007, at an Auburn health care facility. He was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Guilford, son of Melvin and Nellie (Smith) Ames. He worked for the Guilford Woolen Mill for many years in several of the departments. Arthur was a member of the Mount Kineo Masonic Lodge, Guilford; the IOOF Lodge, Dover-Foxcroft; the encampment in Skowhegan; and in later years was active in the IOOF, Auburn. He was a member of the State and National Granges, the Rebekahs, the OES, and was a member of the Guilford Fire Department for many years. Arthur was also a member of Guilford Center Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Geneva (Moulton) Ames. He is survived by two sons, John Ames of Morrisdale, Pa., and Thomas Ames of Jewett City, Conn.; two daughters, Mary Colman of Charleston, S.C., and Sally Clark of Abbot and Zephyrhills, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with burial at Lawn Cemetery, Guilford. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
