ELLSWORTH – Ruth Mary Day, 91, went to be with the Lord Aug. 26, 2007, surrounded by her family, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born April 3, 1916, in Winthrop, Mass., the daughter of William J. and Hannah R. (Symonds) Sullivan. Ruth moved from Massachusetts when she was five years old and spent her youth in New London, Conn., then eventually moved to Portland, in 1933. In 1942 Ruth met her husband, Charlie “Eddie” Day. Ruth and Charlie were married for 49 years where she enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Michael E. Day Sr. and wife, Wendy, of Ellsworth; three grandchildren, Michael E. Day II and wife, Sarah, Sullivan Day and Lucas Day; two great-grandchildren, Reilly and Hannah Day. Ruth was predeceased by her husband; and brother, William Sullivan Jr. Friends are invited to call 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Cox presiding.
