MOUNT DESERT – Richard A. “Tator” Gray, 61, died Aug. 27, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 19, 1946, in Bar Harbor, to Everard A. and Jean E. (Merchant) Gray. He first worked for Hoyt Richards & Sons, Somesville, then he was employed by Billings and Hamblen & Sons, Southwest Harbor. Richard then owned and operated Blanchard & Gray Contractors, Inc., for 34 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Nyoka G. Gray; his mother, Jean E. Gray, both of Mount Desert; his two daughters, Kimberly A. Brown and her son, Aaron E. Graham and husband, Robert C. Brown, of Trenton, and Tammy J. Goodwin and her husband, Rusty H. Goodwin and their daughter, Mikaela G., of Franklin; his sister, Marion F. Farr of South Paris; and brother, Larry D. Gray of Peyton, Colo. Richard will be missed by many other family members and his close friends, John Goodwin Jr., John Phippen Jr., and Chuckie Bucklin. Richard was predeceased by his father, Everard A. Gray, in 1990. Dickie valued all the friends that he made during his lifetime, but especially the people of Parcadia and the Ellsworth Dialysis Center. Friends are invited to call 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday with Pastor Robert Maddocks officiating.
