HOWLAND – Arthur Tasker, 89, went to be with the Lord, March 27, 2007, with his wife, Polly; and stepson, Steve, by his side. He was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Bradford, to Earl and Mildred (Strout) Tasker. His mother was deceased when he was three years old. His stepmother was Doris (Hunter) Tasker. Arthur worked as a welder at Bath Iron Works during World War II. He was self-employed as a store owner and chicken farmer in Bradford. He owned a garage in Bangor and worked in the foundry in Millinocket for several years. He retired from Great Northern, Millinocket. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Charleston and played in the Shrine band. He is survived by his loving wife, Polly; and his children, Elaine and John, Maxine and Frank, Brian and Wendy, Mac and Sherry, Cheryl and Ross, Julie and Kurt, and Steve; one sister, Barbara; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his former wife, Janice; and a baby brother, Raymond. He will always be loved and missed by his family and friends. At Arthur’s request, there will be no calling hours.
