PATTEN – Arthur W. Peavey, 85, died April 23, 2007, after battling cancer. He was born Oct. 10, 1921, the son of Charles “Tad” and Marian Peavey. Mr. Peavey was born and raised in Patten. He served in the U.S. Army on the South Pacific Island of Saipan during World War II. He moved to Cape Cod shortly after he was married and established a home in West Harwich, Mass. He spent 25 years in the masonry trade and was also a devoted member of the Pilgrim Masonic Lodge of Harwich, Mass., where he became worshipful master in 1964. After many successful years in the masonry trade, he spent 10 years as a masonry teacher at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School. Upon retiring from teaching and spending a few more years on the Cape, Mr. Peavey re-established his home in Patten, approximately 10 years ago, and was fortunate to spend his remaining retirement years in his home town. He was the beloved partner of Mary Cox; and proud father of six children, Paul R. Peavey of Pepperell, Mass., Sandra J. McGibbon of Dennis, Mass., Andrea M. Peavey of Pepperell, Mass., Charles “Tad” D. Peavey of Harwich, Mass., Clarke W. Peavey of Marshfield, Mass. and Gordon A. Peavey, deceased; grandfather of Ashley and Wyatt Peavey, Haleigh and Emilie Peavey and Daniel McGibbon. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Bowers Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Island Falls. Interment will be at Patten Cemetery, and will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Peavey’s memory to the Katahdin Masonic Lodge No. 98, P.O. Box 404, Patten, ME 04765.
