BANGOR – Asa Edward Moores Jr., 67, died Oct. 26, 2003, at a local healthcare facility after a long struggle with cancer. He was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Old Town, the son of Asa Edward and Selena Mary (Burns) Moores Sr. He was a member of the Bangor Singles Club where he met his wife, Ann. He served in the Army National Guard during the cold war years of the 1950s. He was a life-long mechanic, loved cars and trucks and everything that made them tick. He drove rigs big and small, and spent many years as a long haul trucker traversing the country from coast to coast. Asa was an avid racing fan and spent the last several years of his life working as a tire man at Speedway 95. Apart from cars and trucks he had a quiet, tranquil hobby, crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Ann Margaret (Fogg) Moores; four children from two previous marriages, Steven and his wife, Wendy of Connecticut, Keith of Bangor, Michelle Tidd and her husband, Andrew of Edinburg and Wanda; seven stepchildren, Curt, Scott, Shane, Randy, Jimmy and Barbara Dewitt and Matthew Carroll; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Harold F. Moores and his wife, Gail of Washington and William H. Moores and his wife, Judy of Old Town; several nieces and nephews, many friends and his beloved dog, Gidget Marie. He will also be remembered and sadly missed by special family friend, Priscilla Moffitt of Old Town. The family would like to express their appreciation to Pris-cilla and to Dr. Scott F. Rusk who provided such compassionate, sympathetic care to Asa during his final days. Asa requested no services.
