BANGOR – Ashley W. Bickmore, 82, died May 14, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Bradford, the son of Wilbur and Agnes (Duffy) Bickmore. Ashley served in the CCC”s (Civilian Conversation Corp.) when he was young. He worked for the Maine Central Railroad and the Aroostook Railroad for several years. Ashley attended Industrial Arts College in Fitchburg, Mass. and later was employed as a linotype operator for the Miami Daily News. He moved back to Maine and retired early due to a disability. He is survived by his brother, Thomas; a sister, Esther; and former spouse, Carol Reinfelds; and several good friends who supported him in the rough times, John Martin of Howland, John McLaughlin of Glenburn, Dick and Carol Treadwell of Glenburn, and lastly, Alan and Gail Ashley of Carmel. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service of remembrance will be held 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Libby, pastor of Souls Harbor Ministries, officiating.
