SANGERVILLE – Atwood E. Lovell, 79, died Jan. 1, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft health care facility. He was born March 14, 1927, in Guilford, son of Carmie and Laura (Turner) Lovell. He attended Guilford High School before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Stott-Flanders American Legion Post No. 165, Sangerville and was active in their baseball program. A lifelong area resident, Atwood worked in several of the local mills. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ardell “Red” (St. Louis) Lovell of Sangerville; two daughters, Carolyn and her husband, Richard Williams, of Guilford and Mary Kalel of Whitinsville, Mass.; three sisters, Pauline Shroat, Edwina Nesbit and Carmen Castle; two brothers, Mark and Leland; many nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather to Kathryn and her husband, Bob, Willie and his wife, Bobbie-Jo, Ashley, Samantha, Ross and Haylee. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home.
