ELLSWORTH and LUBEC Audrey Francis Reynolds Stein, 86, died Aug. 15, 2006, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Lubec, the daughter of Aubrey F. and Pearl (Mahar) Reynolds. Audrey was the director of Dupont Circle Beauty School in Washington, D.C. She was a hairdresser the majority of her life, working with other stylist or on her own. Audrey worked at Alice’s Fashions of Ellsworth for a number of years. She truly enjoyed working with the customers. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her home and family were the center of her life. She attended the First Congregational Christian Church, Lubec for many years. She was also a past member of the Lubec Grange and one of the youngest members of the Rebekah’s of Lubec. She was also past worthy matron. She is survived by a son, James Simmons and partner, Francis Jones, of Owls Head; a daughter, Cindia Sargent and husband, Charles, of Ellsworth; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by a special friend, Debbie Page. Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Frank R. Stein; a son, William A. Hudson; and a sister, Lula Green. Friends are invited to call 9:30-10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with memorial services to be held 10 a.m. with the Rev. Allen Myers presiding. A memorial service will also be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the First Congregational Christian Church, Lubec, with Pastor Edwin Randall presiding. Interment will be at Corey Cemetery, Lubec.
