GRAND ISLE – Aurore I. (Beaulieu) Ouellette, 86 and 10 months, died May 4, 2007, at Cary Medical Center, Caribou, after a short illness. Aurore was born July 12, 1920, in St. David, to Henry and Olive (Levesque) Beaulieu. She attended local schools in Grand Isle, and on June 16, 1972, she attained her life-long dream when she received her high school diploma. Aurore was an incredible mother and set high standards for her family, most were set by her own example of perseverance, diligence and aspirations to do the best at whatever she did. Cooking for a large family made her a distinguished chef in her family’s eyes. Her famous butterscotch pies, date and raspberry squares, “pot en pot” and many more of her own recipes were some dishes to look forward to delight on. She received the honor of Mother of the Year in 1984. After raising her family, she was employed by SAD No. 24, as head cook at the Grand Isle Elementary School for 12 years. Being an extraordinary minister and sacristan for many years at St. Gerard and Mount Carmel Parishes, Grand Isle and Lille, was a privilege for her to be working so close to her creator. She was a curisllista and is living her fifth day. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Lewis M. Ouellette. She was so loved by her family and her legacy lives on in all of her children. She is survived by three sons, Claude and his wife, Claire, of Plantsville, Conn., John “Hoss” and his wife, Denise (Chasse), of Frenchville, and Gene and his wife, Sharon (Morneault), of Madawaska; six daughters, Rita Bernard and her husband, Guy, of Newington, Conn., Claudette Morin and her husband, Alcime, of Grand Isle, Edna Roy and her husband, Remi, of Farmington, Conn., Rena Hassell and her husband, Bill, of Grand Isle, Ida Harrington and her husband, John, of San Francisco and Lena Lyman and her husband, Brian, of West Hartford, Conn.; 18 grand-children and 13 great-grand-children; two sisters, Mrs. Hermance Cyr of St. David and Mrs. Donata Martin of Madawaska; and one brother, Wilfred “Pitou” Beaulieu of Clearwater, Fla., and St. David.
