LINCOLN – Avilda McLaughlin died June 21, 2008, at Colonial Acres Nursing Home, Lincoln. Avilda led a courageous life, striving to overcome physical disabilities with humor, support from family and friends, an optimistic attitude and a lively mind. Avilda lived and worked in Lincoln for most of her life. She graduated from Mattanawcook Academy and worked at Workman Hospital for many years. She enjoyed writing poetry, watching classic movies, and learning about the beliefs and practices of many religions. Avilda was predeceased by her parents, Blanche and Franklin McLaughlin; and her sister, Nova McGinley. She is survived by cousins and nieces; and her brother, Gerald. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
