ELLSWORTH and TREMONT Avis A. Norwood, 87, died July 2, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born in McKinley June 2, 1918, the daughter of Alvin L. and Jennie (Colsen) Norwood. Avis was a member of the WACS during World War II. She enjoyed pets, hooking rugs, knitting, crocheting and jigsaw puzzles. She loved being at Union River Estates where she was very active in helping others. She is survived by a nephew, Grover Worcester and his wife, Sandra, of Cushing; and several cousins. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2005, at the Norwood Cemetery in West Tremont. Contributions in Avis’s memory may be made to the Southwest Harbor Animal Shelter, P.O.
