LINCOLN – Avis E. (Thibodeau) Danforth, 82, wife of the late Murray Danforth, passed away Dec. 1, 2004, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. She was born June 10, 1922, in Reed Plantation, the daughter of Ralph and Pauline (Blanchard) Thibodeau. Avis grew up in Carroll, attended Carroll grammar school, Lee Academy and graduated from Eastern Maine Institute in Springfield in 1940. She was a member of the Carroll Congregational Church and faithfully attended the Lincoln Center Baptist Church where she made many friends and greatly enjoyed Rev. Bewell’s sermons. Avis and her late husband made their home in Carroll until his death in 1987. She then moved to Lincoln and lived at Lincoln Court Apartments where she made many wonderful, caring and supportive friends. She is survived by a brother, Blake Thibodeau and his wife, Dolores, of Dedham; two sisters, Helen Taylor of Brewer, and Charlotte Eberbach and her husband, Chuck, of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Moores; and a very special friend, Gerald Crocker of Enfield; many nieces, nephews, cousins, along with a great many life-long and new friends. In addition to her husband of 46 years and her parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter in 1942, and a brother, Garth Thibodeau of Ohio. The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Health Care and Penobscot Valley Hospital and her friends for the wonderful care and support she has received during her illness. A gentle soul has passed on and she’ll be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends may call 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Saturday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Lindsay Cemetery, Carroll, with Pastor William Bewell officiating. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the Carroll Congregational Church.
