BREWER – Avis Grace (Heath) Darling, 80, wife of the late Frank E. Darling, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 2, 2005, at a Brewer healthcare center. She was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Sherman Mills, the daughter of Ivary and Ruth (Ingalls) Heath. Avis attended Sherman schools and was a member of the Twin City Baptist Church. Avis had a great love for children. She is survived by two children, Mary Ross and her husband, Cecil, of Levant and Joseph Darling and his wife, Vicki, of Gray; one sister, Mertilyn Jones and her husband, Melvin, of New Brunswick; three brothers, Ivary Heath and his wife, Jan, of East Millinocket, Jessie Heath of Sherman Mills, Paul Heath and his wife, Donna, of Vassalboro; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Avis was predeceased by three brothers, William, Burt and Ralph Heath. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at the Twin City Baptist Church, 559 North Main St., Brewer where family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the service begins. The Rev. Gary Turgeon, pastor, will officiate and burial in the spring will be at North Brewer Cemetery, Day Road, Brewer.
