BERNVILLE, Pa. – Barbara A. Work, 70, of Chalet Drive, Bernville, Berks County, Pa., formerly of Bangor and Athens, Ohio, died July 12, at 5:35 a.m., of natural causes in her residence. She was the wife of Gerald G. Work. Born in Reading, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Phares and Edna (Thomas) Swartz. She was a special education teacher in the SAD 48, St. Albans, for 12 years, retiring in 2000. She was a former superintendent of church school and one of the founders of the Hammond Street Nursery School at the Hammond Street Congregational Church in Bangor. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Dr. Brian D. Work of Bernville, Pa.; and one daughter, Amy E. Work of Bernville, Pa. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Friedens Lutheran Church, Bernville, Pa. Interment will be private. The Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville, Pa., is in charge of arrangements.
