CARIBOU – William “Billy” Bubar Sr., 85, died July 11, 2004, at Bangor. He was born Aug. 21, 1918, in California Settlement, New Brunswick, the son of Ambrose and Lucy (Butler) Bubar Sr. Billy served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He was employed by the Aroostook Federation of Farmers for a number of years and then he owned and operated Bill’s Trucking. Billy was a member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, Rita (Beaulieu) Bubar of Caribou, are three sons, Billy Bubar of Fairfield, Willie Bubar of Columbia City, Ore., and Willis Bubar of Livermore Falls; four daughters, Bonnie Lee Damm of Maud, Texas, Connie Jo Nicholson of Jacksonville, Ark., Dee M. Cantafio and Carlene R. Durost, both of Caribou; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, from the Chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with the Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon Thursday until time of services. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
