CHERRYFIELD and LAKELAND, Fla. – Susie May (Pinkham) Fickett, 62, went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Susie was born Sept. 25, 1941, in Milbridge, the daughter of the late Russell and Mary Pinkham of Milbridge. She was predeceased by an infant son, Walter Lee Fickett; and three brothers, James, Arlo and Edwin Pinkham Sr. Susie is survived by one brother, Eugene Pinkham and wife, Barbara, of Ellsworth; two sisters, Beverly Roach of Milbridge, and Bessie Synder of Gouldsboro; a daughter, Katy Gray of Washington State; three sons, Roger Fickett Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Levant, Dean Fickett and wife, Nyomi, of Lakeland, Fla., and Nathaniel Fickett and wife, Maja, of Monks Corner, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She loved them all with her heart and soul. She spent many years with the father of her children, Roger Fickett Sr. Susie worked in the fish factories for many years as well as making wreaths. Some of Susie’s many accomplishments in life were to finally get her diploma in the mid 80s and her driver’s license in the early 90s. One of her many proud moments was working as a crossing guard. She loved cooking, knitting and gardening. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, in the Wyman Methodist Church, with Pastor Michael Fickett officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Milbridge. After the service, a gathering will be held at the Wyman Methodist Church rectory for a celebration of Susie’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
