CLINTON – Barbara Ann Libby Spinney, 68, died Tuesday July 12, 2005, at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville following a long illness. She was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Harry and Myrna (Stevens) Libby. Barbara was a graduate of Washburn High School and just attended her 50th Class reunion. Barbara was a long-time resident of Washburn, and Yakima, Wash., and was currently living in Clinton. She had been a cashier at Libbys IGA, Spinney Superette and Shop N’ Save. One of her favorite jobs was managing the Yakima K.O.A. Campground in Washington. Barbara enjoyed people and traveling, making many lifelong friends across the country – a testament to the type of dynamic, kind, and loving individual she was. An avid reader, Barbara enjoyed cooking, antiques, puzzles of any kind, gardening, tag sales, oil painting, and fibre arts. Strong willed and outspoken, she led four men and her grandchildren to strive in achieving better things in life than those she left herself time to do. Surviving is her devoted husband, Frank C. Spinney who she married July 13, 1968; three sons, Harry of Connor, Ricky of Washburn, and Dennis of Freeport; five grandchildren, Amanda, Joey, Alex, Libby, and Natalie; a sister, Alice Libby Cooper of Scott City, Mo. At her request a simple interment ceremony will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 16, at the Riverside Extension Cemetery in Washburn. Arrangements are by the Wheeler Funeral Home of Oakland.
