CASTINE – Barbara “Bobby” Vallette Bartlett Miller, 78, of Birmingham, Ala., and Castine, died Feb. 28, 2004, in Bangor, after a long illness. She was born April 21, 1925, in Rye, N.Y., the daughter of Frederick S. and Margaret Vallette Bartlett. She graduated from the Baldwin School, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and attended Colorado College before her marriage to Raymond G. Miller, by whom she was predeceased. An avid animal lover and bridge player, she was a member of bridge groups in Birmingham, Ala., and Castine. She loved golf and swimming and was a member of Birmingham’s Chace Lake Country Club and the Castine Golf Club. She was also a second-generation member of the Wharf Rat Society of Castine. Bobby is survived by her two daughters, Margaret D’Entrement and husband, Mark, of Reading, Mass., and Barbara Lewis and husband, Paul, of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren, Shawn Sullivan, of Watertown, Mass., Michelle D’Entrement, of Reading, Mass., Blake Barakat and Daniel Lewis, both of Birmingham, Ala.; five great-grandchildren, Ali, Madison, Ahmed, Hala, and Lulua Barakat, all of Birmingham, Ala.; her brother, Thomas S.V. Bartlett and wife, Mary, of Castine; her nephews, Thomas Bartlett, of Springfield, Ill., and Boyd Bartlett, of Fort Collins, Colo.; her niece, Shelley Bartlett of Castine. A memorial service will be held July 12, 2004, at the Trinitarian Parish Church, Castine. Interment will be in Castine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bobby’s memory may be made to the Trinitarian Parish Church, P.O. Box 108, Castine, ME 04421, or to the Castine Historical Society, P.O.
