ROCKVILLE and VERNON, Conn. – Barbara M. Black, 74, of Rockville, Conn., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Fox Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 26, 1930, in Bridgewater, the daughter of the late Linwood and Velma (Gallupe) Black. She was a graduate of Aroostook State University at Presque Isle and moved to the Rockville area in 1950. Barbara was a member of the Union Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered for many church activities. She loved music, played the organ and was an active bowler. She retired from the Arthur Watson Insurance Agency after 20 years. She is survived by her brother, Lester and his wife, Dawn Black, of Manchester, Conn.; two nieces; a nephew; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Carroll Black. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Rte. 83), Vernon, Conn. Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Corner Cemetery, Bridgewater, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Dept., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
