SOUTHWEST HARBOR Barbara Carolyn (Latty) Sawyer, 89, died May 31, 2008, in Southwest Harbor. She was born April 25, 1919, in Tremont, the daughter of Vernon H. and Stella M. (Norwood) Latty. She graduated from Southwest Harbor High School in 1938. Barbara was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Southwest Harbor. She enjoyed gardening, painting and cooking. She is survived by several special people in her life, Jeannie Robinson Rock, Rose Faulkingham, Warren and Anna Strout, George and Harriet Price and Rob Macomber; a niece, Patricia Gunn Morrill; one great-niece, Megan Weeks; and three great-nephews, Geoff Gunn and Mark and David Morrill. Special thanks to her loving caregivers from Heartworks Home Referrals, Gina, Patricia, Cheryl, Rita, Linda and Jackie. Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Charles W. Sawyer Jr., May 9, 2002; one sister, Letitia L. Gunn; two brothers, Rodney and Richard Latty; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Southwest Harbor, with the Rev. Richard Tardiff officiating.
