VANCEBORO – Barbara E. Shaw, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at a Calais nursing home. Barbara was born July 20, 1928, in Princeton, daughter of the late Stephen and Iris (Pratt) Shaw. She graduated from Walt-ham High School, Class of 1947. Barbara was employed as a secretary for more than 30 years with Waltham Grinding Wheels Co., Waltham, Mass. She was a national weather service spotter for 12 years and a member of Vanceboro Historical Society. Barbara enjoyed bingo and doing crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles Shaw Sr.; and a nephew, Charles Shaw Jr. Surviving are her daughter, Susan Slowe and her husband, James, of Vanceboro; three sisters, Lillian Monette of Waltham, Mass., Ruth Palmer of Tucson, Ariz., and Louise Labossiere of Vanceboro; a brother, Stephen Shaw of Waltham, Mass.; a special niece, Michelle Osborne and her husband, Paul, and their daughter, Sarah, of Vanceboro; a special nephew, Joseph Labossiere and his friend, Michelle Crosby, of Vanceboro; many other nieces and nephews; and her “canine grandson,” Chester. A celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Vanceboro United Methodist Church.
