CALAIS – William F. Boardman, 80, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at his home. Bill was born March 28, 1927, in Calais, son of the late Glen and Helen (Hartford) Boardman. He served in World War II with the U.S. Army. After the war, Bill attended college in Portland and Massachusetts, graduating with a law degree. He worked as a lawyer in Calais for nine years, then served as the probate judge in Machias for 22 years, retiring in 1989. Bill also retired from the Army National Guard as a major. He was a member of the Rotary Club and St. Croix Bowling Club. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Reynolds; and two brothers, Richard and Paul Boardman. Surviving are his loving wife of more than 41 years, Pearl (Dinsmore) Board-man; a special nephew, Wayne Boardman of Calais; great-niece, Samantha Boardman of Calais; great-great-niece and great-great-nephew, Kevin and Ashtyn Beek; a brother-in-law, Emerson Dinsmore; and many other nieces and nephews.
