VAN BUREN and DIXMONT Mervin D. Brooks, 78, died Jan. 7, 2008, at a Van Buren health care facility. He was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Canada, the son of Daniel and Bessie Brooks. He had been a resident in L’Acadie, Van Buren, for the past several years, after moving from the Dixmont area. Mervin is survived by two sisters, Mary Withee of Eagle Lake and Betty Smith of Bath. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of service at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Father David Cote officiating. Spring interment will be at Grande Riviere Cemetery.
