EASTBROOK and SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Barbara F. (Jordan) Herrick, 92, of Eastbrook and formerly of Southwest Harbor, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility, after a brief illness. She was born July 7, 1914, in Franklin, the daughter of the late William F. and Helen L. (West) Jordan. Mrs. Herrick attended and graduated from the former Franklin High School, Class of 1932. After her graduation from high school, she married Elmer Clow in 1935 and began her family. Mrs. Herrick was an excellent cook and was employed at Cave Hill School, Eastbrook, for many years, making the school renowned for having great food. Barbara prided herself in cooking for various functions and organizations over the years, whether the group was a small gathering or a huge crowd. Many people were fortunate to have enjoyed her hearty meals and pastries. Mrs. Herrick enjoyed ballroom dancing, shopping and music, and was a loving caregiver to her family. She shared 37 years of marriage with Elmer Clow, who died in 1972. In later years she married Woodrow W. Herrick of Southwest Harbor, with whom she was married to for 19 years. Mr. Herrick died in 2003. Barbara was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Ann Clow. Surviving family members include a son, Bill Clow of Eddington; three granddaughters, Julie Jordan and her husband, Rick, of Waltham, Rebecca Clow of Old Town and Jenny Gott and her husband, Peter, of Tremont; five great-grand-children, Emily, Abby, Joshua, William and Anna; a special sister, Martha Karst of Augusta; several nieces and nephews; and two stepsons, Paul Herrick of Connecticut and Stephen Herrick of Oregon. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be after the service at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Eastbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
