OSBORN – Barbara (Haley) Rankin, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Colliers Nursing Home, Ellsworth. She was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of the late LeRoy and Adell (Stevens) Haley. Mrs. Rankin attended schools in Maine, including Lee Academy. She was the former treasurer for the town of Osborn for 30 years, where she also held the position of town constable. Mrs. Rankin worked 20 years at the Ellsworth Woolen Mill Sterling Net and Twine. She was also employed at the former Zayres for 10 years in the fitting room before it closed. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Erdmund “Zack” Rankin. She was also predeceased by a brother, Frank Haley; and a sister, Bonnie Foster. Family members include one sister, Jacqueline Leavitt and her husband, Gary, of Ellsworth; a brother, Richard Jordan Sr. and his wife, Frances, of Osborn; seven nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. To my dearest Franny (Louie) Jordan, without your help I would have never made it this far. She is also survived by a special friend, Charles Watters of Eddington. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home. Private burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Waltham.
