LAMOINE – Ruth E. “Betty” Ashmore, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006. She was born Jan. 13, 1931, in Hulls Cove, the youngest daughter of Carroll and Sadie (Daigle) Frost. Betty grew up in a large family of six brothers and sisters during the Great Depression. She learned from a very young age the importance of strong family values and passed these values along to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty married the love of her life, George Ashmore, March 31, 1951. In her working years, she gave selflessly to her many patients in the office of Dr. John Van Pelt, as one of the early EMT’s for County Ambulance, and at the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, where she spent 35 years before retiring in 1993. Betty was a devoted Catholic and was a long-time communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellsworth, where she was a member of the choir. She is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, her oldest daughter, Dolores Ashmore Smith; her granddaughters, Lisa Jane and Amy Karel Smith; grandson, J. Michael Winne; her brother, “Bud” Carroll Frost Jr.; and her sister, Constance “Connie” Frost Jalbert. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Ashmore-Jordan and her fiance, Brooks Osgood, of Brooksville, Linda Richardson and her husband, Edward, of South Colonie, N.Y., Wendy Winne of Colorado and Patricia Heath and her husband, Brent, of Lamoine; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren and their significant others, Angel J. and Matthew Hochman, Holly Jordan-Norris and husband, Christopher, (SFC) George “Rusty” Ashmore and wife, Angela, Jason Richardson and Amy Matteson, Misty Dawn Jordan and Dennis White, Deb Ashmore and James Kneeland, Jamie Lynn Richardson and Steve Mandigo, Janie Winne Messer and Josef Messer II, Christopher Bowman, Ally Jordan, Katie Bowman, Avery Moyer, Robyn Hochman, Kassandra Ray, Derek Ashmore, Garrett Moyer, Sara Ashmore, Hannah Norris and Max Richardson; her brothers, Richard Frost, Donald Frost and his wife, Mollie, Robert Frost and his wife, Grace; her sister, Patricia Thomas; a very special niece, Sherri Ann Kostas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Betty’s Eucharistic Ministers, Ralph and Mary Miro, Larry and Bonnie Fernald, Errol and Iona Heisser, Bill and Deanna Allen, Larry and Grace Poulin, and Lena Leavitt and the communicants of St. Joseph Catholic Church, for their continued devotion, friendship and support. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, where a Rosary Service will be held 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of East Main Street and High Street, with the Rev.
