MILBRIDGE – Barbara I. Strout, 89, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Sept. 21, 1916, in Steuben, the daughter of Frederick and Ruth (Davis) Kelley. Barbara lived in Milbridge most of her life, except for four years during World War II, when she lived in Boothbay Harbor. For several years, Barbara was active in Maine State politics. She was an avid bridge player, and later in life enjoyed playing beano. Barbara was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for Jasper S. Wyman and Son in Milbridge. In her later life, Barbara enjoyed vacationing on cruise ships. She is survived by a daughter, Constance Strout and her husband, Thomas Wood, of Bangor; a cousin, Roberta Sawyer of Milbridge; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Beal of Milbridge; nieces, Bonnie Beck of Westbrook, Joyce Bailey of Greenville and Susan Parker of Veazie; and a nephew, James Beal of Milbridge. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge.
