AMBLER, Pa. and SOMESVILLE – Barbara Kurtz Tyson, 88, died March 1, 2004. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Tyson Sr. and mother of Charlie Tyson, Barbara Iselin, Helen Tyson, Peggy Martinez and the late Sally Valenzuela-Bock. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert F. Kurtz and her sister, Joannie Ferguson. She loved her summers in Somesville and in her younger years participated with her family in many of the activities the island has to offer, especially golf, sailing, climbing mountains and gardening. She was a generous supporter of not only the larger organizations of Mount Desert but the smaller ones as well. There will be a memorial service held at a later date this summer.
