WOODLAND – William Larry Stedt, 57, died March 2, 2004, at Woodland. He was born in Woodland, Jan. 3, 1947, the son of William and Ellen (Erickson) Stedt. William was a 1965 graduate of Caribou High School and then received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Maine. He served with the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW of Caribou and the Perkins Plourde Post American Legion, Stockholm. Mr. Stedt was a supervisor for Verizon Telephone and had been employed there for more than 30 years. He married Judith Ann McNeal Stedt, Feb. 6, 1967. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Caribou as well as a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Judy, of Woodland, are two sons, Wade and Daniel Stedt, both of Portland; one daughter and son-in-law, Deidra and Eric Violette, of Caribou; five grandchildren, Danielle, and Amanda Violette and Haley, Cortney and Gunner Stedt; several nephews. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the New Sweden Cemetery.
