DOVER-FOXCROFT – Barbara L. Boyce, 86, went to be with her loving husband, the late Lester V. Boyce, Feb. 9, 2007, at a local nursing home. She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Portland, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel (Lindsey) Woodard. Barbara worked at Purity Supreme Market in Massachusetts for many years, and returned to Dover-Foxcroft upon retirement. Barbara was known to all as Nanna, whether related or not, and was considered by all who knew her to be the matriarch of the Boyce family. A more caring and loving individual would be impossible to find. Barbara will be loved always and missed dearly by her children and all whose hearts she touched throughout her lifetime. Her love of life and country music, and her toe tapping will be remembered and cherished by all. May she hear George sing throughout eternity. Barbara was predeceased by her son, Lester V. Boyce Jr. She is survived by her sisters, Charlene Hewett of Dover-Foxcroft, Ruth Shuman of California, and Gloria Burgess and her husband, Carl, of Carmel; her children, Patricia Voter, Marlene Lord and her husband, Roy, Ray Boyce and his wife, Barbara and Donna Ricker and her husband, Brian; and son-in-law, Dexter Voter, all of Dover-Foxcroft; her sisters-in-law, Dottie Boyce and Rita Woodard; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by special friends, Dottie Richard and Ethel Hersey; and best buddies, Bobby Hersey and sweet Kathy Sage.
