BLAINE – Basil J. McKim, 79, died Feb. 13, 2008, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Easton, the son of Daniel and Mary (Colton) McKim. Basil had been employed in the potato industry most of his life, and was, at the time of his death, employed by Bell Farms, Mars Hill. He is survived by his wife, Marie St. Onge McKim of Blaine; three daughters, Brenda Doody and her husband, Bob, of Fresno, Calif., Carol “Kitty” Pelkey and her husband, Rod, of Cross Lake, and Joanne Bell and her husband, Breen, of Mars Hill; grandchildren, Stacey Young, Kelly Corey, Torri Huston, Dustin Bell, Eric Pelkey and Ethan Pelkey; great-grandchildren, Brandon Young, Darrian Corey, Alexis Bell and Delaini Huston; a brother, Gerald Higgins of Georgia; a sister, Madeline Maillett of Cinnaminson, N.J.; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Basil was predeceased by his first wife, Alanda (Hardgrove) McKim; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday at Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.
